Shield of Sumatra (Peurise) in cast brass, early 20th century (Circa 1900)
It is from the region of Sumatra in Indonesia, from the people of Aceh, the shield is cast in brass with a convex outer surface, it has been cast with seven buttons or smooth buds surrounded by triangular motifs arranged in six-pointed stars of Islamic inspiration.
The edge is decorated and the reverse has been cast with four lugs through which an arm strap can be passed.
