“The Splendor of the Spirits” is a unique ceremonial textile that incorporates mica, a rare and valuable technique in traditional Indonesian ikats.The inclusion of metallic threads adds a shimmering elegance, enhancing the symbolic geometric patterns across the fabric.
Likely from the Kaur region of South Sumatra, this piece reflects the spiritual worldview of local communities, where textiles are not merely garments but objects of ritual significance and social prestige. The use of mica suggests it may have been worn during important ceremonial events or as a status symbol within the community.
