LONG AND BEAUTIFUL BATIK SHOULDER SHAWL (SELENDANG LOKCAN), IN SILK, JAVA (JUANA OR REMBANG) INDONESIA, 20TH CENTURY (1900-1930).
 
The Juana or Rembang silk Batik of northern East Java has the Batik (tulis) technique, completely hand-drawn, in natural indigo and kayu tinggi dyes, with the quintessential motif of silk batiks and dyed in indigo, in the upper part blue with reddish brown. kayu tinggi on ivory background.
The lokcan (bird) has 3 long tails resembling multiple wings associated with the Chinese phoenix, accompanied by a variety of motifs such as carnations (pointed petals), 4-petal flowers, leaves and butterflies.
The beauty of the Batik shawl is its great length, accentuated by the rhythm of the thinnest pairs of lokcan found between the curved carnations along the fabric.
There are beautiful expanses of exotic flowers that give a very striking and clear character to the design, complemented by the solid, dark shapes that intertwine with the curves of the motifs.
The textile is finished at each end with a width of fine stripes that imitates a fringe, also like a real glued fringe, the touch is very soft and fine, the touch of silk.
The garment is in perfect condition for its age, it is a piece from a private collection, very well cared for, it may have some wear due to time and age, but it is not visible and has no defects, it is like new with its measurement label hanging, and its colors remain intact and radiant, depending on the brightness of your screen. The original colors may vary a little, but the color is radiant and vibrant in the light of the eyes.
