✧ Artistic Description:
This refined textile piece, titled “Dawn of Rajasthan,” is a magnificent example of the Bandhani technique from northern India, famous for its elegance and symbolism. The square format is decorated with a central diamond-shaped design surrounded by geometric motifs, all punctuated by tiny white dots formed by the traditional tying technique, also known as dot tie-dye. This ancient textile tradition originated in Western India, particularly in the regions of Gujarat and Rajasthan. This type of textile was commonly used in ceremonial and festive garments, such as dupattas and turbans, and its production required meticulous craftsmanship. The colors—deep burgundy, fuchsia, orange, turquoise blue, and yellow—evoke the brilliant palette of a sunrise in the deserts of Rajasthan, where the sky and sand merge in an interplay of light and shadow. The silk, light and vibrant, retains its original texture with a soft natural fold that gives it movement and sophistication.

Condition: Very good for its age. No tears or defects. There is a small, almost imperceptible stain measuring approximately 1 cm. The original colors are perfectly preserved and vibrant.

Private Collection of the AStücke Family, part of a heritage collection of rare Southeast Asian textiles, carefully preserved in old family trunks transported to Europe in the early 20th century. This piece has never been used and is in impeccable condition.
