Wucai square vase, "The Yang Family", scene known as the general ladies of the Yang Clan.
Square porcelain vase, with decoration painted in blue under glaze in enamel. On the neck, contracted and short designs. The scene of the Clan ladies appears in everyday life. Each of the four sides is decorated with a different theme, The body with tapered rectangular sides supporting a carved cylindrical neck and everted rim, each side painted in cobalt blue underglaze and bright glazes: shades of green, yellow, iron red, eggplant., our vase seems to have different scenes on each side.
The Yang Generals was based on the lives of historical figures and dates back to at least the 13th century. The engravings of the novels printed on wood were an important source of inspiration for painters who retold the stories in porcelain paintings in the 17th century. This rare vase appears to contain scenes from at least two different classics.
